Hawker Pacific, Air Niugini and Aviation Australia launch joint training venture

Hawker Pacific, Aviation Australia and Air Niugini have collectively launched in Cairns a new engineering cadet training partnership set to develop the aviation sector.

The exciting new training programme offered will allow graduates to attain specialised “on the job” training within an actual live aircraft maintenance facility which is a first for Cairns and this program. In the past this type of training was conducted in a simulated training environment. This new form of training is world class cutting edge training.

The training partnership between the leading aviation training organisation, Aviation Australia, international maintenance repair organisation, Hawker Pacific, and the national carrier for Papua New Guinea, Air Niugini was formally launched at an official contract signing ceremony with all parties present.

“Hawker Pacific is pleased to be entering into a joint venture with Aviation Australia offering a quality engineering training platform for Air Niugini. Hawker Pacific is proud of the quality and dedication of its engineering staff and we believe that it is this level of experience, professionalism and dedication to developing individuals that will set this world class training program apart,” said Jason Burzacott, Vice President, Hawker Pacific.

Bill Horrocks CEO Aviation Australia highlighted that this partnership was a logical extension supporting the company’s mission of “delivering excellence in training to help shape the future of the aviation industry worldwide.”

“Entering into this highly professionalised level of engineering training with two world class organisations such as Air Niugini and Hawker Pacific ensures we are delivering on this goal. This is an exciting outcome and I am very proud that we have been able to establish this partnership to share the expertise that our organisation provides to countries and their local airlines and aviation companies globally since the Queensland Government established Aviation Australia in 2001,” said Bill Horrocks.

Chris Pigott Business Manager Aviation Australia Cairns Aviation Skills Centre highlighted the importance of this joint training venture. ”This joint venture is a world class project and the benefits to the aviation industries in both countries as well as the economic benefit to Cairns cannot be understated”.

The Cairns Chamber of Commerce has congratulated the three organisations for partnering and collaborating for the greater good of both countries’ aviation sectors.

“It is wonderful to see joint ventures such as this occurring in Far North Queensland. Papua New Guinea are our closest international neighbour and we boast a strong and enduring friendship with one another so partnerships like this one make perfect sense and are very easy to facilitate given the daily direct services we have linking our two countries. This multi million dollar contract over two years is also a welcomed injection into our local economy,” said President of the Cairns Chamber of Commerce, Sam Marino.

Aviation Australia is a world class training organisation established by the Queensland Government to support the development and growth of the aviation and aerospace industries in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) it holds both Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 147 approvals, and as part of this new joint venture, Air Niugini engineering cadets will be receiving on the job training within the Hawker Pacific maintenance facility for a period of 24 months.
